Biography
Michael A. Saridakis, MD, FACS is a board certified general surgeon who has proudly served West Tennessee, the community he calls home, since 1997. Dr. Saridakis is the founder and sole practitioner of Jackson Regional Surgery Center and performs surgery at both Regional Hospital of Jackson and Haywood Park Community Hospital in Brownsville, Tennessee.
Over the years, Dr. Saridakis has earned a reputation for providing high quality, innovative care to thousands of folks like you. He is committed to Continuing Medical Education to provide you with the latest minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopic) as well as the latest techniques in traditional surgeries. The emphasis on minimally invasive procedures translates to less pain, less scarring, and faster recovery.
Dr. Saridakis specializes in surgery for anti-reflux disease; thyroid/parathyroid; large and small intestine; pancreas; stomach; gallbladder; hernia; appendix and spleen; breast cancer treatment, including sentinel lymph node biopsy, lumpectomy and mastectomy; and the removal of moles, skin cancers and hemorrhoids.
Dr. Saridakis is also dedicated to the early detection and treatment of colon cancer and colorectal disease, offering his patients colonoscopy screenings and, when medically necessary, treatment options. Although colon cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in this country; ahead of both breast cancer and prostate cancer, it is one of the few cancers that can be preventable, treatable and beatable when detected early. With today’s technology, Dr. Saridakis is committed to giving his patients their best chance for a cure.
Prior to settling in Jackson, Dr. Saridakis was a staff surgeon at U.S. Naval Hospital Great Lakes in Illinois. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the U.S. Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California and served as the ship’s surgeon aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Kitty Hawk. Dr. Saridakis also served as a medical officer with the U.S. Marines in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School.
He is a member of many professional societies including a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
Presently, Dr. Saridakis is Chief of Staff and a member of the Utilization Review Committee at Regional Hospital of Jackson and a Member of its Medical Executive Committee as well as the Board of Trustees.
In his spare time, Dr. Saridakis enjoys dabbling in computer technology, playing tennis and spending quality time with his wife, Helen, and their twin sons, Steven and Michael.
